What makes good Architectural Design

Bird's Nest Stadium In Beijing

1)What is in the design that you consider to be good design? What are the criteria?

I consider innovative ideas which help to overcome common problems good design. I also consider a design good if it is unique and is not very normal. The design must also be feasible to build and not too abstract that it looks strange or weird.

2)List down the criteria. Make comparison of the design to the criteria. State what you observe in the building/design that fits/does not fit the criteria that you have listed down.

I think the building above does fit the criteria as the shape and design of the pillar of the building actually help to block out rainwater from reaching the spectators inside the stadium, i also find the design unique as it is shaped like a birds nest and a building like this have never been designed and built before so it is one of a kind. Also the design is not too abstract as a birds nest is quite a common thing we can see in our daily lives it is also feasible to build.
